SUNDAY PRACTICE CANCELLED :(

Hey Guys,

The rain isn't letting up and I think we better respect the fields and skip this one.

If you can get some throwing in before Wednesday, even for 20 minutes, it will pay off for we who are rusty. A good routine to do with a partner from 10-20 yards away:

* means if you make a bad throw (uncatchable) then you start that section over! this is a great reinforcer for concentration:

Aiming for the chest:
20 backhand*
20 forehand*
20 stepping out/lunging backhand*
20 stepping out/lunging forehand*
10 fake hard forehand, throw backhand
10 fake hard backhand, throw forehand

Aiming for space just beside the receiver (but don't make the receiver run):
5 backhand lead throw to your backhand side*
5 backhand to the other side (this is a 'break' throw)
5 forehand to forehand side*
5 forehand to the other side (this is a 'break' throw)

Then if you have energy work on longer throws and catches, hammers, etc.

If the weather stays crappy, here's some stuff you can do indoors:
pushups (10), Situps (40), leg raises (on your back- 40), leg raises on your side (30)- these get tiring quickly and are good for hip flexors/hamstrings which mean good for running speed x 3 sets

I find one of the most useful indoor preps for me is to bounce a tennis ball off of things at school and try to catch it one hand, every time. You'll be surprised how hard it is to stay focused.

See you all on Wednesday! Have a great rest of the long weekend. Sorry about the weather!

N
